How much does your University recycle?

Ever wondered if all your hard work to recycle is worth the effort?

Well, thanks to information being provided by our waste contractor, Veolia Environmental, we can now keep you updated on how much your University recycles and sends to landfill.

You can use the graphs below to track our progress.  We have based this information on the wastes that end up in our general waste and recycling wheelie bins because, whether you are a student or staff member, you contribute directly to it through your day-to-day activities.

The national average for recycling in Wales in 2007/08 was 29%, so against this we are doing fairly well.  The target for recycling in Wales for 2009/10 is 40%, so it’s really important that we all do our bit both at work and at home.

The Welsh Assembly Government is currently consulting the public on its plans to set much higher targets for all individuals and organisations in Wales to achieve recycling rates of 70% by 2025.  You can tell the Government what you think here.
