SWWHEP inspires Leicester University, and beyond

SWWHEP’s hugely successful Green Guide has begun to inspire other Universities to improve their waste and recycling information.  The Environment Team at the University of Leicester, headed by Dr. Emma Fieldhouse, recently launched an online A-Z of wastes and recycling based on the Green Guides developed last year by SWWHEP for Swansea University, Swansea Met., and Trinity University College.

Dr. Fieldhouse said, "It is invaluable for us to use an idea generated elsewhere and it saved us time and resources in producing our own version. We are finding our online version is well used and acts as the main point of reference for all things related to waste and recycling. We will be producing a number of hard copies for distribution later in the year."
The Guide was also presented to delegates at the recent EAUC Annual Conference as part of a workshop on raising awareness amongst staff and students within higher and further education institutions.  Many delegates expressed an interest in using the Guide as an inspiration for their own.  Jan Dyer, Environmental Coordinator at the University of Worcester commented “I was really impressed with the way in which the Green Guide presents useful information for staff and students, and hope that we may develop our own sometime in the near future.”
